President's Message (Aug 31st, 2015)

I hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable summer!  Just as the leaves in New England will be turning bright reds and oranges,  BDPA Hartford is ready to move into levels of vibrancy never seen before!!  We are ready to become a strong and driving force within the New England information technology environment.  I just returned from BDPA's 40th Anniversary and National Conference, which was held in Washington DC.  I must say that I am truly energized from the positive networking and knowledge sharing that I encountered.  Companies from various fields were actively recruiting and even hiring talent on the spot! Without a doubt, companies such as Cigna, Johnson & Johnson, and Hewlett Packard realized the great product and professional IT talent which BDPA has to offer.  College and high school students were full of excitement and eager to showcase their IT knowledge in an eloquent manner to any and everyone willing to listen!  At our banquet and awards dinner, it was very evident that BDPA was ready to make the next 40 years more exciting and transformative as the first 40!!

As President of the Hartford Chapter, I am very excited to get things going again. This chapter has a very strong history of empowering IT professionals and training students to become successful IT professionals.  My plan is to continue this history of success through various methods.  I am currently in the process of convening a group of loyal BDPA members and stakeholders for the purposes of discussing what BDPA Hartford can do better, what we need to change, and how we can increase our value as an organization.  In the very near future we will be sending invites asking each you to attend a Fall Networking social and we will be starting our Signature Series Presentations again with some of our area sponsors.  We also have plans to bring an IT related job fair to the area.  We want to let the many companies in this area know that BDPA Hartford has a strong talent pool to fulfill all of their IT staffing vacancies!  And of course we are absolutely looking to continue our strong history of helping our students from all levels truly be able to experience BDPA's goal of getting students "From the Classroom to the Boardroom".
